HMS Cares: A Day of Service
A Huge Success!

Our Students Are Choosing Kindness Over Sales

On May 20 2025, Hazelbrook Middle School launched its first-ever HMS Cares: A Day of Service, and the results were nothing short of incredible. While our fundraising goal was $20,000, we raised a powerful $11,400 — netting $9,600 after expenses — all while staying true to our mission: Give Back. Stay Safe. Have Fun.

Over 700 students took part in 40+ service projects, from sandwich-making for the unhoused to environmental restoration with city partners. We were proud to collaborate with organizations like Willowbrook Arts Camp, Love One, SOLVE, Friends of Trees, and Tualatin Riverkeepers, all co-hosted with the support of the City of Tualatin’s Volunteer Services.

💬 What We Heard:

  • Teachers and city staff alike praised the event — highlighting how engaged students were and how many had the opportunity to shine in new ways.

  • Our students brought unmatched enthusiasm and responsibility, earning praise for their positivity and work ethic.

  • We learned a lot, too — like how to better structure tool distribution and build in time for early finishers next year.

🎉 What’s Next:
Plans are already underway to expand and enhance HMS Cares for 2026. With earlier planning, more community collaboration, and a longer lead-up to fundraising, we know next year will be even better. More student leadership, and deeper partnerships are all on the horizon.

💛 Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, and believed in our students. HMS Cares isn't just an event — it's a movement. Together, we're showing our kids the power of kindness, leadership, and community impact.
